11 short films commissioned under Digital Shorts 2006/7 are about to go into production. A South West Screen and UK Film Council initiative, Digital Shorts develops innovative short film ideas from people based in the South West. This year the scheme is run in association with Cornwall Film, ITV West, The Engine Room and Calling The Shots.

The films commissioned in association with ITV West are:

• Moon People by Martin Rhys Davies,
• Meeting by Bill Maryon
• Illumination by Liz Crow.

The films commissioned in association with Cornwall Film are:

• Just Saying Goodbye by Joan Beveridge,
• Bob-a-job by Brett Harvey,
• Pianissimo by Pat Kelman
• Friday Night by Jane Pugh.

The films commissioned in association with Somerset Film and Video and Calling the Shots are:

• A small collection of Hilary Flamingo's Dream Vocations by Harriet Fleuriot,
• Goodbye Gabrielle by Adrian Cooper
• The River by Adam Laity.
