Film-goers in the South West will find their cinemas doubling as art galleries soon when new work by half a dozen international artists is screened alongside a selection of main features. These screenings are being offered at six regional venues over the next six months as part of A-Movie - a ground-breaking UK touring project by South West Screen and Film London which aims to broaden the audience for film-based visual art.

The Lighthouse in Poole, Dorset will be the first South West venue to screen the six new shorts in the A-Movies package. Other South West venues taking part are the Little Theatre in Bath, Arnolfini and Watershed in Bristol, The Barn in Dartington and the Picture House in Exeter. Artists involved in the A-Movies project are Frenchman Jimmy Robert, Mark Leckey (UK), Mika Taanlina (Finland), Imogen Stidworthy (UK), Daria Martin (USA) and Yang Fudong (China). The films were produced by Lux, a London based agency specialising in artists' film and the Spacex visual art gallery in Exeter.

For details on the screenings please contact the venues directly.
