Actaeon Films Ltd are seeking short fictional drama scripts or treatments in the Teen Comedy or High School Comedy genre or writers who are prepared to work with a producer developing an original idea in the genre of Teen Comedy or High School Comedy.

The film will be a funded short designed for festival/industry screenings and domestic and international broadcast.  We will have the budget to shoot a film with exceptionally high production values that would do justice to the work of an experienced or up-and-coming writer.

The Brief

Script submissions must:

• Be under 60mins in length and ideally under 30mins;
• Include a o­ne page Synopsis of the narrative;
• Include a 25 words or less pitch of the project.

If you are writer wishing to work to develop an original idea, please send:

• A CV and covering letter outlining your writing experience;
• TWO writing samples preferably under 15 pages in length and if possible in an area relating to Young People / Teenagers.

The script we are looking for will combine high and low comedy without being afraid to address the darker sides of teenage life.  Suitable reference points would be: CLUELESS, MEAN GIRLS, ELECTION, HEATHERS and DEAD POET'S SOCIETY

We will acknowledge receipt of your script or treatment, which will be read in strictest confidence by a professional reader.  We will aim to tell you of our decision in writing within four weeks. Terms are subject to negotiation and your script is submitted without any commitment to proceed o­n your part. However, please bear in mind that any upfront fee would be subject to, and delivered upon, commissioning of the project. A copy of the film will be supplied to the writer o­n VHS or DVD o­n completion of the film.

Please submit your screenplays in standard format with a title page containing your contact details (including an email address) and a covering letter with details of any elements already in place (director, actors, etc).

It is essential that you are the copyright owner, both of the script and any underlying rights. If this is not the case (for example if you are proposing to adapt an existing literary property which you don't yet own the rights to), please make this clear in your covering letter.

About Actaeon Films Ltd

Actaeon Films Ltd was established in July 2004.  Producers Matt Gunner, Daniel Cormack and Rebecca Connell have completed three short films and are in post-production o­n a fourth short film, Amelia and Michael.  Amelia and Michael is a 12min short film shot o­n 35mm and starring Anthony Head (Buffy, Little Britain).  The film was independently funded and received financial backing from some of the most prestigious companies, organisations and individuals, including:an multi-Oscar winning actress, an Oscar Winning Director, a former Head of Worldwide Production at Twentieth Century Fox, a Cinema Exhibitor, a theatre impresario and two major film production companies.  The film was Executive Produced by Richard Johns, Producer of the Oscar-nominated Shadow of the Vampire.  The film attracted goods and services in-kind from major sponsors such as Kodak, Panavision, Lee Lighting, Jaguar, Soho House and BUPA.  The film has already received 'expressions of interest' from the two leading short film Sales Agents and is scheduled for submission to over 100 festivals, including all 80 Oscar, BAFTA and European Film Award-nominating festivals.

Funding has already been secured for the next Actaeon Films project; a series of 1-5min comedy shorts going into to pre-production in early 2006 to be Executive Produced by BAFTA-award winning Producer, Natasha Carlish.  Actaeon Films also has an extensive production slate of short films for 2006 and a development slate of four features and we are actively seeking to build relationships with up-and-coming and established writers to develop original material.
