Britain’s biggest short film festival, Brief Encounters, celebrated the best in short filmmaking between 23 and 27 November 2005, culminating in a prestigious awards ceremony at Bristol's Watershed Media Centre. Our congratulations go to Sam Hearn and Richard Penfold of Bristol based Omni Productions who won the ITV West Award for their short film 'Indians', which was produced through South West Screen's Digital Shorts Scheme. This is the second year running that Sam and Richard have won this award - their earlier film ‘Dog Years’ won in 2004.

Congratulations also go to Bristol based filmmaking trio Rong (Matt Smith, Stephen Scott Hayward and Alex Kirkland). Their hilarious new film 'Oedipus' was selected from over 500 entries to win the BBC New Talent Award.
