The Sheffield International Documentary Festival and the Jerwood Charity are pleased to announce the 12 short listed entrants for the Jerwood First Cuts Documentary Award, two of whom studied in the South West. The award was created to recognise the high quality of documentary work that students at UK film and media schools are producing. The winner will be selected by an international jury and will win a cash prize of £3,500 towards their next project. The two South West short listed entrants are Melissa Hodson from Bournemouth Media School, short listed for her film 'Cookie', and Jacob Paris from University of the West of England, short listed for 'Old Street'.
All short listed films will be screened during the Sheffield International Documentary Festival as part of the First Cuts strand. The reception for the Jerwood First Cuts Documentary Award will take place on Saturday 15 October as part of the festival.
