Not only is £5,000 up for grabs but it comes with free expert mentoring, access to free equipment from Cornwall Media Resource (CMR), a week in Sprout Media's editing suite, a day in Troubador Studio, free translation and free access to archive material from TSWFTA.
Editing software from Canopus will be offered to the runner-up.
Deadline for submission of film proposals is Oct. 31. There isn't an application form, but a proposal has to written. Go to www.cornwallfilmfestival.com or pick up info at Tremough Campus reception Penryn. Applicants must include film idea, single-page proposal, showreel or other supporting material, CV, production crew information, and detailed budget. A selection panel will short-list up to eight filmmakers, whose ideas will be pitched to a panel of judges before an audience during the Cornwall Film Festival (Nov. 18-20). Candidates will be required to answer questions by the panel and audience, who will jointly vote for one winner.
The winning filmmaker, who must be resident in Cornwall, will have 10 months to create the film, with the help of experienced mentors and a translator. It will premiere at the 2006 Cornwall Film Festival.
