Jeremy Mills is appointed new Chair of Cornwall Film

Cornwall Film, the development agency for Cornwall’s media sector, has appointed Jeremy Mills, Managing Director of Lion Television, as its new Chair.

Mills who grew up in Cornwall, has a wealth of experience working in broadcasting. Lion, which he set up in 1997, is o­ne of the UK’s most successful production companies with offices in London, Glasgow, New York and Los Angeles. At Lion he has overseen a raft of award winning programmes including Hotel, Children’s Hospital and Castaway 2000.

He began his career at the BBC in Plymouth and was responsible for a range of hit programmes shown o­n BBC1 including The Vet, The Doctor and The Skipper, before becoming an executive producer o­n a range of BBC1 shows including Children’s Hospital, X cars and Airport.

Mills has been appointed to drive the Cornwall Film project forward, specifically to explore ways of building the capacity and infrastructure of the media sector in order to grow a sustainable media industry in Cornwall. o­ne of his aims will be to develop the broadcast potential in Cornwall.
