Actors required for ‘De Sul’, winner of the Govynn Kernewek funding award at the Cornwall Film Festival 2004.
The film explores a moment of cathartic change within a small Cornish fishing village c1900. The local preacher, Father Lewyth, fears for the future of his community when the loyal church going villagers, listening to their needs and desires, go out and fish on the holy day of Sunday. Having broken the rules of the Sabbath, all sense of the order that once stood appears broken, as the villagers awaken to new ways of living that seem to threaten Lewyth's ideals of a strong community.
We require cast to take on the various roles of the villagers and are looking for actors, based in the Cornwall area, to partake in the project. We are also putting out a call for any actors aged between 45-65 to fulfil the principal role of Father Lewyth, the Preacher.
‘De Sul’ is the Cornish word for ‘Sunday’, and as a condition of the award the film is to be made in the Cornish Language. This should offer a challenging and exciting opportunity for actors wishing to take part.
The film will shoot on DV for 5 days during May (exact shooting dates have yet to be finalised). Due to a very tight budget this work will be unpaid. However, this is an opportunity to work on what is already an award winning project, which will receive a major first screening when it is premiered at the Cornwall Film Festival 2005 in November.
