South West Filmmakers share in £100,000 payout

18 young filmmakers from Swindon and Bristol are getting the help they need to realise their dreams thanks to a share in a £100,000 lottery payout.

The funding will support a total of 29 films, including 2 from the South West, and is being dished out through the UK Film Council's First Light scheme.

8 children from Nyland Special School in Swindon, aged 10 and 11 years, are working on a digital short entitled "Making Choices". The film is a largely improvised drama which will tie in with an Emotional Awareness Week that the school is running.

Ten youngsters aged between 12 and 18 from Action Time Vision Co-Operative Limited in Bristol are producing a real time suspense drama called "Break" which is about a woman who awakes to find her house being burgled.

Each of these South West projects have received grants of £4,000.
