As part of a Wild Ideas initiative, 6 groups of children in the South West were recently set a challenge to produce a short film to communicate their lives and environment. The young filmmakers worked with community filmmaking companies in their area and developed their filmmaking skills through a series of workshops run by the BBC Natural History Unit. The resulting six films include a music video, a natural history film about humans, a look at pets in the city, a film made by Roma Gypsies about their unique relationship with animals, a skateboarder’s view of the Cornish landscape and a spoof look at documentary filmmaking.

A DVD of these films is now available with extra features including making of footage and tips on filmmaking and getting into the industry. For your free copy of the Wild Ideas DVD, please contact Victoria - victoria.gethin@wildscreen.org.uk.

Wild Ideas is a Bristol Natural History Consortium initiative made possible by the Inspire SW programme.
