Cornwall Film is working with South West Screen on some exciting new short film schemes for Cornwall-resident practitioners.

South West Screen and the UK Film Council in association with Cornwall Film, ITV West and Aardman Animations are seeking to commission innovative short film ideas from individuals based in the South West, who are interested in exploring new approaches to digital format.

South West Screen will support up to 11 short films with budgets of up to £8000. Projects can be drama, documentary or animation. The successful applicants will work alongside an established line producer appointed by South West Screen, and will also attend a training and development workshop in Cornwall.

There are two particular schemes supported by Cornwall Film that are open only to Cornwall resident filmmakers – a fantastic opportunity for local film-makers. 3 five minute films of budgets of up to £7000 plus a directors’ fee, and 4 one minute films with £1000 budgets plus a director’s fee will be made in Cornwall in 2005/2006. Projects can be drama, documentary or animation. Apply now!!!

Previous schemes have been highly successful and provided a key stepping stone for South West filmmakers. Last year’s Digital Shorts commissioned 9 projects from around the region including animation, live action and ninety second films.

For more information on Digital Shorts 2005/6, and for details on application, go to the South West Screen website . The deadline for applications is 8th July 2005 at 12 noon.
