The festival – last year / this year

Last year’s festival was a great success with sold out season tickets and evening feature films such as Oscar nominated “Vera Drake” by Mike Leigh. Last year’s festival director Laura Hardman is having a baby. Lucy Frears has been selected to take the Festival forward in 2005.

“The 2005 Cornwall Film festival will be better than ever.” Says Lucy Frears. “The festival has continued to inspire local filmmakers year after year. The experience of seeing their films on the big screen in front of a large audience as well as learning from professionals in master-classes and workshops means that films improve every year.” The festival is not just for filmmakers it’s for anyone that loves film. “With an increasing audience and higher quality films, every year we move closer and closer to what we long for, a sustainable filmmaking industry in Cornwall.”

Two of the most respected international directors have already confirmed that they will appear during a weekend packed with great new films, master-classes, international premieres and special events.

Friday - 5pm is a young peoples’ festival, there's also a "Best Student Film" Audience award as well as the Audience award for best film of the festival.
