Young filmmakers from Cornwall awarded funding15 young filmmakers from Cornwall and almost 40 from Devon are set to put their creativity to the test thanks to nearly £20,000 worth of lottery funding. They have been awarded the money under the UK Film Council's 'First Light' scheme, to make three films: 'Street Rat', 'Breaking The Myth' and 'Sea Spirit'. Barbara Santi is working with The Nancherrow Centre on the Cornish Project while Coombeshead College in Newton Abbot is working with Sundog Media and Suited and Booted on the Devon-based films. South West Screen's Director of Development Mark Leaver commented: "This latest round of funding is great news. Coming just a month after youngsters from Dorset and Devon scooped First Light awards for their recent films, it is a clear illustration of the young talent in the region and will continue to inspire others to follow in their footsteps". |
