animate! tv Call for Submissions

Printer friendly page

animate! tv is looking for new ideas.

The UK-wide commissioning programme for experimental films for television is selecting another slate of personal projects, with running times of up to 6 minutes and production budgets between £5,000 and £20,000.

animate! questions received notions about animation practice. animate! believes that animation is not, and indeed never has been, exclusively driven by frame-by-frame process but by wider notions of synthesis. animate! supports innovative content and 'agenda' as well as new forms and techniques.

Now animate! tv 2005 wants new proposals to scratch the world with unexpected tools or playful propositions to surprise and stretch an audience. Above all, submissions should be fired by an irresistibly original idea that will challenge the boundaries of animation.

The individual works will receive their premieres on Channel 4 in autumn 2006 within two animate! tv compilation programmes, and then enjoy a long and highly visible international profile.

You do not have to be an animator to submit a proposal to animate! tv 2005 but you must have experience of experimental practice in film, video & digital media, and be based in the UK.

Celluloid, tape and digital technologies are all acceptable, in pure or hybrid form.

Submission deadline is (postmark) Friday 29 April 2005.
