Benedict Coen, a filmmaker from Newquay, has recently had his film "Joshuas Room" accepted to the New York Film Festival with rave reviews from those who have already seen it. Benedict also had his film "Ghostlands" screened at the same festival in November 2004.

"Lucy" another film by Benedict Coen, co-directed by Ruarri Joseph - a student at Falmouth College - and exclusively starring people from Cornwall, is to be screened at the International Festival of Cinema Technology in November, which incidentally is being held at Universal Studios. 

The New York International Independent Film and Video Festival (NYIIFVF) is the largest film festival in the world. Founded in 1993 by entertainment impresario Stuart Alson, NYIIFVF has been recognized by the film and entertainment industry as o­ne of the leading film events o­n the festival calendar. Each festival showcases over 300 films from around the world, including world premieres, features, shorts, documentaries and animations. The festival runs from 28th April - 5th May in New York.
