Castle Air was conceived back in 1979 and specialised in aerial filming, making its most famous debut with the hit series "Treasure Hunt". With a company policy of continual reinvestment into Aircraft, Personnel and Equipment the company has become a leader in this specialised field.

Operationally Castle Air have been called upon to carry out an extremely wide variety of tasks, from filming in the Artic Circle to VIP transport o­n the African equator.

Filming Equipment

The Ultramedia ll

Castle Air has its own Ultramedia II system in house. This is a fully gyro stabilized system, incorporating a Sony 570 camera, with a Fuijinon 72 x lens is supplied with a Sony DVW-250P digital recorder (but any recorder can be used). This combination enables rock steady shots to be achieved, even when very remote from the action.

The New Tyler Middle Mount ll

Specification

  • Fully CAA approved incorporating Aviation seat and 4 point harness

    speeds, Camera run, Inching

  • Super smooth zoom/focus motors

  • State of the art electronics

  • 35mm, 16mm and video compatible

  • Gyro stabilized if desired.

Positioning

Unlike traditional "fixed plate" mounts the Tyler Middle Mount II incorporates a sliding seat to allow the operator to position himself at the eyepiece.

Wescam Gyro Mount

Gyro stabilized film system - when installed to Castle Airs own custom built rig can be slid inboard for fast positioning and when o­n location slid outboard, left or right into film role.

The Tyler Nose Mount

Remote Control unit incorporating:

  • Smooth variable speed 180 degree tilt control

  • Crystal / variable camera speed control

  • Iris control

  • 4" monitor

  • LCD footage display

  • LCD camera speed display

  • 35mm, 16mm and video compatible

Remote operation allows lens inspection by cameraman from cockpit or rotation to backward position for lens protection whilst not shooting.

Full Ground Support and Safety Crew

We can supply fully equipped ground support o­n location complete with:
