Education in Motion Presents Move IT! Animation Workshops for Gifted and Talented Youth

Move IT! is an intensive set of workshops across three Saturdays to produce a short animated film.

We will explore a variety of new and original techniques taking in all aspects of the film making process from storyboarding to a final edit.

• The essentials of animation ? key skills you need to know and a chance to experiment
• Lean and mean ? communicate what you want fast and effectively
• A choice of stop-motion, drawing or computer techniques to make your film
• Use an Apple Mac like a pro ? make full use of the integrated potential of the award winning iLife software, istop-motion and photoshop
• Push your creativity, learn top-level computer software skills, learn how to handle professional film and sound recording equipment. Make your own film and get your ideas moving!

Workshop 1: Developing an idea and subverting expectations, digital image manipulation skills, creating an animated storyboard using editing software.

Workshop 2: Making animated sequences, recording voices and sound effects.

Workshop 3: Finishing the film, editing techniques, adding a score. Watching and evaluating the films!

Sessions will be led by animator and film-maker Tim Burton. He worked o­n the animated feature 'The Corpse Bride', was part of the special effects team behind 'Harry Potter' and has run a number of successful education projects for the Arts Council and Film Council.
