Forkbeard Fantasy Workshops for Teachers & Art Educators 2006 Our multi-media workshops give teachers and artists access to the inspiring and innovative techniques long pioneered by Forkbeard Fantasy. Sound Design Wednesday 8th November 2006 An opportunity for participants to investigate some of the different recording techniques Forkbeard have used over the last 30 years, ranging from reel-to-reel to digital technology. The course will provide instruction in inventive ways of capturing specific sound effects for different purposes, including exhibition pieces such as peep-show boxes, mechanised sculptures, stage shows, animation and film. Participants will also learn how to edit and lay down their own sound track. This course is for up to six participants. Crossing the Celluloid Divide Friday 10th November 2006 An exploration of the dynamic between film and performance, which in its simplest form, is the trick of merging from stage to screen and vice versa. A one-day course which gives practical experience in a variety of our most successful experiments in this field, and provides suggestions of how to adapt these for teaching purposes. This course is for up to twenty participants. Puppetry & Automata Tuesday 14th & Wednesday 15th November 2006 A guided tour of Forkbeard's astonishing array of giant marionettes, sculptural costumes, mechanised peep show boxes and props will illustrate the inspirational range of possibilities in this area. Participants will have the opportunity to experiment with different techniques and materials and construct their own creation under the expert guidance of the company's artistic directors. This two-day course is for up to twenty participants. Art of Animating Thursday 16th November 2006 This workshop will examine and give hands-on experience in the wide range of animation techniques used by Forkbeard in their films, theatre shows and interactive exhibitions. These will include 2D drawn animation, claymation, pixillation of actors, animating found objects, a simple introduction to blue-screen keying, use of collage and cut-outs and scratch film. There will also be inventive opportunities to combine several or all of these techniques for a finished article. A variety of materials and equipment will be available for use.
