Cornwall Film - fund for low budget local documentary and drama - Target Talent
Cornwall Film Targets New TalentCornwall Film is launching a ground breaking new fund for low budget local documentary and drama production. TARGET TALENT will develop and showcase exceptional Cornish talent by supporting creative documentary and drama production by Cornwall resident film-makers with investments of up to £50,000. Films supported by Target Talent will provide Cornwall’s film-makers and media sector with high quality ‘calling cards’ to prove their creative ability and generate further work and investment in the local media industry. Project Director Pippa Best says “It can be hard to make the leap from short films or no-budget features and TARGET TALENT offers a fantastic opportunity for local talent to prove their creative abilities on a professional low budget digital production. We are also keen to see film-makers working with the ‘new media’ sector to develop online and interactive project elements. We hope the scheme will showcase some of the great original voices in Cornwall and provide a whole new perspective on Cornwall and Cornish film-making.” Up to four productions are likely to be selected and are expected to shoot primarily in Cornwall in Autumn/Winter 2006, creating work for local crew. Pippa Best says “Successful filmmakers will be looking for local crew on our online production guide – this includes anyone from experienced Heads of Department to runners looking for their first job. Cornwall resident crew can register online for free at www.cornwallfilm.com.” The deadline for applications to TARGET TALENT will be 5pm on FRIDAY 14 JULY 2006. For more information on the scheme, visit www.cornwallfilm.com. Interested applicants can also RSVP to office@cornwallfilm.com to attend one of Cornwall Film’s TARGET TALENT drop in sessions from 4.30 to 6pm on Tuesday 20 June or Tuesday 4 July at 73 Lemon Street, Truro to find out more.
