Cornwall Film Festival Assistant Post

The festival assistant would be immediately responsible to the festival director, and to the festival board

Line Manager - Festival Director Laura Hardman

Main purpose of job: To perform general administrative duties and provide support to the Festival Director as required.

Festival dates: 16th – 19th November

Duties include:

• Writing and dispatching letters
• Making calls, and answering festival queries by telephone and email
• Obtaining information from the computer
• Updating festival website
• Maintaining filing systems 
• Research
• Taking festival board meeting minutes
• Assisting Festival Director as necessary
• Researching possible funding/ guests/ events.
• Setting up data systems 
• Sending out mass email bulletins 
• Liasing with venues

Role

The festival assistant would support the festival director in her role organizing the 2006 Cornwall Film Festival. The post would be office based in Redruth, Cornwall. The assistant would be the first public interface for the festival and as such must have excellent telephone and people skills. An interest in film is not essential, but would be a bonus. Organisation of the festival peaks in the months prior to the festival, and at that time, long hours are to be expected. The assistant must be able to prioritise, cope with deadlines, and work well independently and under pressure.

The successful applicant would be expected to be competent using Word, Excel and with file management.

Salary

The post would initially be part time at (3 days per week at £600 per month), starting in May through to August, when the job becomes full time (5 days per week at £1000 per month) until end November. There would be £230 for post festival hours in December.
