Creativity in Digital Media Awards 2006

The Creativity in Digital Media Awards is an awards scheme for all students aged between 5 and 18 across the UK. The Awards aim to inspire practitioners and students to demonstrate and celebrate creativity in the use of digital video, digital still images and digital music. The Awards will identify and exemplify effective practice which can then be disseminated as advice to the wider learning and teaching community.

Why is creativity important?

Creativity:

  • Provides opportunities for young people to pursue their interests and talents.
  • Enhances critical thinking, communication and problem solving skills.
  • Opens up new and innovative ideas.
  • Increases self-esteem.
  • Improves the pace of learning.
  • Equips pupils for their future lives as workers and citizens.

Categories

You can submit entries into the following three categories. To find out more about each category, click o­n the following links:

Digital video
Digital still images
Digital music

Prizes

Prizes include Apple eMac computers and iPods; Canon digital video and still cameras; Ulead digital video and still image software; a free accredited training course from Denbighshire LEA; free passes for a BBC Television Centre tour.

Closing date

All entries must be received by Monday, 31 October 2005.

Shortlisting

Shortlisting and final judging will take place in November/December 2005.

Awards ceremony

The Creativity in Digital Media Awards 2006 will be presented o­n Monday, 27 March 2006, at the National Museum of Photography, Film & Television, in Bradford.
