One of the best ways of getting your films seen is to enter some of the many film & video festivals in the UK or even abroad. Many of the festivals have free entry and cash prizes are often awarded. If your looking for inspiration then it's a good idea to check out the work that other filmmakers are doing - and where better to do it than o­ne of the many film festivals in the UK.

The best of the south west film showcase

Fresh Film is back......... and this year builds o­n the success of Fresh Five as a regional celebration of the best film and digital media produced by young people in the South West.  The Fresh Six Young Person's Film Festival will pack three days (Thursday 9 - Saturday 11 November 2006) with film screenings, workshops, filmmaking, careers advice and the Fresh Film Lab, a unique drop-in studio where young people can get their hands o­n the latest technology and experience the potential of film making.

Fresh Six is offering an exceptional opportunity for young filmmakers (under the age of 21) to enter their films for screening during the Festival programme.

The films should be 10 minutes or less and have been made in the South West of England.  Of the entered films, a selection will be chosen for screening during the Festival programme as the 'Best of the South West Showcase'.

All you have to do is send us your films.  Film submission is free of charge, simply visit the website www.freshfilm.tv and download a copy of the film entry form and send it to us (address o­n the form) with a copy of the film o­n DVD, VHS or mini DV before 29th September.  We will let you know if your film has been selected as part of the programme during October.

Please tell your friends and colleagues about this opportunity to get their films shown to large audiences of young people o­n a big screen and in unexpected screening locations.

Cornwall Film Festival - Deadline for Free Submissions Now Closed

In addition to our usual screenings of Cornish Drama, Documentary and Animation, we will also be having special screenings, Student Films, films made by young people (18 years and under), Artist moving image, surf, skate or extreme action films and four minute documentaries.

Late submissions will be accepted until Friday 1st September, but these will be subject to a £25 administration fee. The festival office is open until 5 Monday to Friday, and will be open until 6 pm o­n the above date. Please note there is no letter box, so if you are planning to deliver your film by hand it must be done within office hours.

Calling all Filmmakers. Make a Mini Masterpiece for Encounters Festival, November 21-26th 2006

Mini Masterpieces is back for it¹s fourth year at the UK¹s most important short film festival, Encounters in Bristol.  This year we want your pitches for a truly ’mini’ film made for mobile phones or handsets. As usual we’re offering the same fantastic package for the successful film makers including a high level premiere, travel and accommodation bursary plus VIP entry to all the industry events and parties. To make it even more exciting, this year there are six places up for grabs- three animations and three live action!

This young festival, set in the snowy mountains of North America, was inaugurated in 1992 and has developed a reputation as an adventurous and fresh event devoted to shorts which tell compelling stories in imaginative ways.
