June Skinner - Creftow Gallerywebsite email Creftow Gallery is run as a co-operative of 22 artists and craftspeople based in Helston, Cornwall. I have been filming a very exciting Pit firing collaboration event. The pit was 30' long x 4' wide x 4' deep, it took 2 weekends to hand dig and cut up the wood. Then on the 22nd /23rd January we lit the fire which burnt overnight until the next day. The results were amazing. I am hoping to edit and make a DVD about the event. The pit firing of ceramics give rich markings on the surface on the pots/sculptures without using glazes. The 'primitive' techniques give the pieces a softness and earthiness.
