Free training for teachers at Bristol Watershed
Screenonline www.screenonline.org.uk and Luxonline www.luxonline.org.uk, two comprehensive online film services for schools and colleges, have organised a special FREE training day for teachers on February 24th at the Bristol Watershed.
Screenonline and Luxonline are FREE websites and are an invaluable resource for primary and secondary school teachers delivering a range of subjects including: English, Media Studies, History, Drama, and Art. Teachers who attend the event will learn how to exploit Screenonline and Luxonline's moving image and audio clips, including many complete short films and television programmes. We will also be providing user packs to complement the workshop so that teachers will be able to disseminate good practice to their colleagues.
Teachers can refer to Screenonline and Luxonline for:
- Broad coverage of film genres such as melodrama, comedy, documentary, children's programmes and non-fiction TV
- Shakespeare on screen, from Olivier to Branagh
- Newsreels from WI and WII including Paramount and Ministry of Information footage
- Step-by-step guides on techniques, processes and infrastructures in film and video art
- In-depth studies of artists who have made significant contributions to the development of film and video
