Screen South
Screen South is one of nine regional screen agencies that form part of Screen England and is the media development agency for the southern coastal counties UK, incorporating Kent, Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire, Hampshire, Surrey, Berkshire, East and West Sussex and the Isle of Wight. Founded in 2001, it is funded by the UK Film Council and a number of local authorities.
Screen South's aim is to support enjoyment and understanding of the media as much as it is to encourage innovative production, develop and discover local talent and build a sustainable and dynamic media sector in the south-eastern counties.
It provides support for short films and for innovative work by local film-makers. The Dreamcatcher scheme is targeted at new scriptwriters, with an initial award of $1,500 to develop an idea with a script editor, and £5,000 subsequently possible for developing a first draft. Other individual schemes encourage European co-production and the making of local factual films.
Applicant individuals and companies must be based in the above-listed southern counties of England and must have attended a Screen South information day before applying.
