Work Placement with Big Wide Talk

Unique and exciting filming placement for 3 film students / graduates in the Cornwall area, 9th - 20th October 2006

At Our New School groups of young children, with their parents and local practitioners will be able to use the 6 metre high glass wall, learn about light in the huge white and black boxes in the Colourbox, and exercise their imagination in the Cloth Place. Our interest is in the dialogue this provokes, and we try to capture this o­n film. Parents, local practitioners and Big Wide Talk researchers use this footage as they analyse what was important for the children taking part.

Why we need you:

We are looking for dedicated students or recent graduates of film to work as film crew with Big Wide Talk for our forthcoming exhibition 'Our New School'.  This is a unique opportunity for students to develop their experience and CV in filming vérité footage in this large scale, unique exhibition for parents, teachers and children. The footage will primarily be of dialogue between adult and child, or between children, therefore a natural interest in what children do and say is essential.

The filming will be in unusual lighting conditions and environments (see images) therefore you should demonstrate a good technical knowledge.  We anticipate a follow up exhibiiton showing the resultant research of participating groups from across Cornwall.

This is unpaid work, we can cover the cost of some expences i.e travel. Big Wide Talk will co-ordinate an induction session for the film crew.
