Learning and Skills Council Devon and Cornwall
The Learning and Skills Council’s main priorities are to encourage more young people to stay in learning, to increase demand for learning by adults and to boost the contribution of education and training to economic performance. These priorities are driven by three strategies:
1) Skills - setting out how they will build long-term relationships with local employers, engaging with them in defining skill needs and developing their workforces.
2) Participation - setting out plans to put individual learners at the heart of the system and bring more people into learning - especially from groups which are currently under-represented.
3) Learning - identifying how they will deliver education and training
provision which meets local employers' and learners' needs.
They run the Local Co-Financing Programmes. Details for the next round will be published in Autumn 2005.
The LSC also runs the Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly Learning Partnership.
The Local Intervention and Development Fund is a fund that the LSC can use at its discretion although it states that is not currently in a position to receive expressions of interest to the fund. It also runs the Apprenticeship Scheme.
