Cornwall Film Festival 2004
Following on from the huge success of last year’s Cornwall Film Festival - which tripled previous audiences, screened over 80 Cornish films and offered master-classes with top professionals among other things - the festival offers another exciting and packed weekend of events from 12th – 14th November at the Falmouth Arts Centre. Led by new Festival Director, film-maker Laura Hardman, the Festival is set to include documentaries, animation, student work, art films, archive treats, low-budget miracles and mainstream epics.
'New Shoots - New Routes' - Special Young People's Film Events on Friday 12th November
Once again a special day of events organised in collaboration with Creative Partnerships Cornwall & Plymouth in association with Awen Productions will be aimed at young people on Friday 12th November. Festival Director Laura Hardman’s close working relationship with Creative Partnerships over the past 2 years has given her a real insight into creative education and what works for young people, so this promises to be a very successful day. Events for youngsters interested in the business will include special screenings, chances to meet with industry professionals, Q&A sessions and networking opportunities for young peer filmmaking groups. The three Cornwall ‘Bytesize’ films (See PX) will be screened alongside premieres of short films made for the ‘Screen Beats’ project with Humphry Davy, Newquay Tretherras, Saltash and Looe Schools, Bodmin College, and Camborne Science & Community College in collaboration with the newly-launched CPR Learning Space. For adults as well as the youngsters that day, there will also be an evening showing of KAPLAN - an exciting collaboration between Composer Graham Fitkin and Filmmakers Steve Tanner and Morgan Lowndes - that will be open to all members of the public.
The Cornwall Film Festival is presented with the support of The Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation, Falmouth Arts Centre, The National Maritime Museum Cornwall, Cornwall County Council, Falmouth Town Council, North Cornwall District Council, Falmouth College of Art, South West Screen, Creative Partnerships, Creative Skills, Cornwall Media Resource, Michael Wiese Productions, The South West Television and Film Archive, Roskilly’s Ice-Cream, Gendall Design and Just Cornish.com
