Cornwall Media Focus is looking for a Coordinator
This is a freelance full-time post available for 18 weeks from 30th August 2005 to 31st December 2005 at a rate of £500 per week.
Cornwall Media Focus is a membership organisation open to anyone working in film, TV and new media in Cornwall. We aim to facilitate the development of a ‘media cluster’ for Cornwall, enabling our members to develop knowledge, contacts and skills which will help their businesses to compete more effectively. A Steering Group of industry representatives meet monthly to oversee the project’s activities.
The Co-ordinator’s role will be to
- gather sector intelligence for the website and regular e-bulletins, and manage the development and delivery of these resources
- develop and deliver a marketing strategy, grow a diverse membership, and build links with other organisations in the South West
- deliver networking and developmental events and other schemes and activities as agreed by the Steering Group
- research members needs and profiles and monitor skills development
manage the project budget, gather evidence of match funding, and prepare financial reports - report regularly to the Steering Group and funders on the project’s progress
explore funding opportunities for Cornwall Media Focus and work towards the project’s sustainability
Knowledge of the local and national media industry is crucial, as is experience of research, budgets and marketing. Experience of working to a board and familiarity with HTML would be an advantage. You will need your own computer, access to the internet, and your own office/home working space.
To apply, send an up to date CV and a letter outlining how your skills and experience would equip you for the post to Cornwall Media Focus c/o Cornwall Film, Pydar House, Pydar Street TR1 1EA.
Deadline for applications is 28th July.
Shortlisted candidates will be informed by 3rd August and will need to be available to attend an interview in Truro on Thursday 11th August.
It is hoped that funding will be sourced for the post to be offered again in 2006 as a part-time position.
Cornwall Media Focus is delivered with the support of Creative Kernow, Cornwall Film (a project financed by the European Union, and a partnership of South West Screen, Cornwall County Council and Penwith District Council), and the South West Regional Development Agency.
