Cornwall Film Festival workshops 11th - 13th. July kindly supported by Creative Skills

These courses are aimed at helping you perfect your film submissions to the Cornwall Film Festival 2005 (film entry deadline 16th. August 2005).

To enter a film go to www.cornwallfilmfestival.com and click o­n application form link. Entry is free.  You can enter up to 5 films, but the director, producer or writer must be resident in Cornwall.

Workshop 1:

Final Cut Pro DV editing workshop with Tom Mavro.
Aimed at beginners and intermediate level.
You must know how to use an apple mac computer.
Monday 11th. July, Opie building, Camborne College
Max people o­n course 10.
Course time: 9.30 - 5.30.

Tom Mavro has 5 years experience training Final Cut Pro & providing Apple based consultation & training services. He runs his own training company MAVCOM & is an Apple Solutions Expert. Tom also works as a video editor & DVD producer.

Workshop 2.

Film completion advice surgery with 3 experts.
You are invited to show your film or section of your film for up to 10 minutes.  Laura Hardman, Colin Rogers and John McLardy Smith will suggest ways to improve your submission. The panel will be the o­nly people to see your film. 
Total time for surgery 30 minutes.
12th. July Opie Building, Camborne College
Course time:  10-6pm.
12 places for 30 minute sessions, please arrive at least 15 minutes before your allotted time.

The 3 experts are:

Laura Hardman, BA, MA
Laura is a freelance film maker who's based in Cornwall. her work ranges from directing multi camera shoots to community and youth video projects. She was the director of the 2004 Cornwall Film Festival.

Colin Rogers was the founding Director of Cornwall Film Fund, 2001 - 2003. He has also been Head of Scripts for ATV, Deputy Head of Drama Series/Serials for BBC TV, Controller of Drama for Meridian Broadcasting and most recently Executive Producer of India's most popular tv detective series! He has worked extensively in tv and film as a producer, director, writer and script editor and in 1995 was awarded the Fellowship of the Royal Television Society for "an outstanding contribution to television". He is Managing Director of Cornwall-based production company Deco Films and Television Ltd..

John McLardy Smith is an independent film maker with a craft background in film editing. He has extensive experience working in many genres across broadcast TV, community, personal, experimental, corporate, and low budget feature production. He has also worked in education in many roles, and many of his former students are now colleagues within the industry.

Workshop 3.

DV Film Editing o­n Avid Xpress beginner/ intermediate with John McLardy Smith.
An all day editing course aimed at the beginner or intermediate. Competence with PC's is needed.
Monday 11th Opie Building
Max people 8 to share 4 computers in practical sessions.
Course time:  9.30 - 5.30

John McLardy Smith is an independent film maker with a craft background in film editing. He has extensive experience working in many genres across broadcast TV, community, personal, experimental, corporate, and low budget feature production. He has also worked in education in many roles, and many of his former students are now colleagues within the industry.
