Submitting films for festival consideration is a vital component of a filmmaker’s career, as any aspiring filmmaker will tell you. But the process is often overwhelming, confusing and costly. Without A Box, Inc. introduces the first phase of its services for the film community with the Festival Submission Service, an online service to streamline the entire submission process. Withoutabox is a new international online exchange that gives filmmakers the tools they need to make film festival submission both easy and accessible, as well as expedite and simplify the process for film festivals.

Designed by filmmakers for the film community, Withoutabox’s submission service is at once "obvious" and "ingenious." In a world of over 1,200 unique film festivals and more than 750,000 filmmaker submissions, the film festival submission process has historically been one of researching festival requirements, filling out individual entry forms for each festival, incurring the cost of producing multiple dubs of videos and press kits, and sending separate packages to each festival. There has been no "one-stop shop" for information, qualifications and submission services, thus, for many filmmakers, the process is daunting and, with time and money demands, largely inaccessible. Often, filmmakers miss out on those festivals for which their films are most qualified and sought after.

No longer! Withoutabox’s submission service will help filmmakers navigate the film festival submission process and make informed and well-researched decisions about their film festival entry choices, while saving time and money–an average of 20-30% on submissions. Filmmakers will be able to collect all of the information they need – at one place – submit to multiple film festivals around the world – at one time – by submitting one customized entry form, one video and one press kit, all of which will be transmitted to film festivals securely via Withoutabox.

Withoutabox’s comprehensive online film festival database will include complete festival information, as well as requirements for qualification based on length, year of production, genre, category, premiere status, etc. Filmmakers will log onto withoutabox.com and fill out the entry form containing all of the specific information required by film festivals. The site will then know the film and show filmmakers the festivals for which they’re especially qualified.

When a festival is selected, all components of the filmmaker application, including press kit and video, will be digitized at top-quality and a fully-filled entry form will be available via the Internet. Withoutabox also will serve as an interconnected film community, where filmmakers are directly linked with film festivals and can receive regular updates on their acceptances, awards, screening notifications and other information.

Film festivals, on average, juggle nearly one thousand film entries, including forms, videos, press kits and payment. Withoutabox removes administrative hassles by transforming the entire film festival back office into a secure, paperless, postage-less and videotape-free environment. Essentially, the whole process is streamlined, which helps film festivals operate more efficiently. Applications, films and press kits will be received digitally; film festivals will be able to communicate instantly with filmmakers through an internal messaging system; graphic designers and press from around the world will have direct access to press kits, and the process of interfacing with judges and scheduling screenings will be expedited and simplified.
