"In Consideration Whereof" - with Bob Austen
Tuesday 26th April 10.30am 4pm
This course deals with the laws which protect the film maker when embarking on a production either self sponsored or working for a commissioning client. It looks at the problems which can beset private filmmakers both in interaction with a client and when preparing an original self sponsored production for general release.
Bob Austen will look at the provisions of the Copyright, Design and Patents Act 1988 and how it affects and protects the film maker, as well as many contractual tips and practices learned from over 25 years of front line experience.
Bob Austen became a director/producer in his last four years working for Cygnet Guild Communications (where he was a departmental head for 14 years). He left to set up his own production company (Executive Communications Ltd.) which, for eleven years, produced sponsored corporate films and TV commercials. The company had its own full broadcast film and TV facilities and employed six people full time. He later founded another company (Sandown Training employing eight people) to produce and market self-sponsored health and safety films. This latter company traded successfully for a further 8 years. He is based in the UK but has worked in over 60 countries for almost 1000 client organisations.
