Falmouth School Film Club Previous Projects
The Pendennis Project
This project resulted in three groups of students filming for two hours each at Pendennis Castle in September and early November 2004. The idea was to create a “silent” horror movie. The storyboard was created from the music track, which members listened to in advance before planning both the story and specific shots. The results of all three groups’ work can be seen here. The project titles are:
“Lady & the Vamp” Size: 9.39mb Running Time: 2.14
“The Invitation” Size: 10.8mb Running Time: 3.12
“Bite Me, I’m James!” Size: 10.5mb Running Time: 2:56

“Storm on the Cathe”
Falmouth’s after school Film Club is this week embarking on its most ambitious project to date; a 30 minute costume drama. The film is being directed and produced by the club’s membership of students aged between 12 & 15 years of age. The club has secured Busines & Enterprise funding to cover most of the costs.

The film will be made mostly at Pencarrow House & Gardens, with additional scenes at Pendennis Castle and Roughtor, Bodmin Moor. Creative Partnerships have kindly supported the project with the loan of camera equipment and Limelite Costume Hire in Truro has supplied the costumes.
The film follows two girls, Lydia and Elaine, who are both unhappy at the “School for Young Ladies” which they attend. Things look like improving when, for the holiday, Elaine is invited to stay with Lydia whose parents are far wealthier than her own. However, that wealth has been acquired through the corruption of Lydia’s father, a Revenue Officer, and when this corruption is discovered by the King’s Revenue Inspector he is forced to renege on his agreement with a smuggler. This in turn puts the girls in mortal danger. Only the mysterious stranger the girls met briefly at school is in a position to save them but will he be in time?

The film will be premiered at Falmouth School hopefully sometime in June. Copyright permission has been given for the soundtrack which will use four tracks from “The Path” album by west country folk band “Show of Hands”. This will allow for wider airing of the film – possibly at the Cornwall Film Festival? – and for copies to be made for interested parties.
