St. Keverne Parish Hall

St. Keverne Parish Hall is a completely independent Service Charity registered with the Charity Commissions and governed by the provisions of the Charity Act 1993.

The Hall is managed and administered by annually elected trustees from within the community, all of whom are unpaid volunteers.

The Trustees come from a cross section of the community including representatives from local organisations.

The Hall is not funded by government, therefore, financially it must run totally independent of outside help. This being the task of the Trustees and volunteer helpers.

The Hall's income comes from Hirings, but in order to make the Hall available to the poorest of local organisations, hire charges are kept low. These charges do not cover actual running costs.

In 1991 the Trustees of the Hall were successful in securing a liquor licence, therefore enabling the Hall to offer a Licensed Bar for special events.

It is the proceeds of the Bar that subsidise the general yearly running costs.

The object of the Charity is for the provision and maintenance of the Hall for use of all who live throughout the Parish without distinction of political, religious or other opinions.

The Parish Hall Committee's objective is to try and improve the condition of life for the community at large.

After distributing a questionnaire, asking what the villagers wanted from their local Parish Hall, the Trustees were successfull in securing funding in 2003 for a complete refurbishment grant.

The Hall now offers a Skittle Alley for small groups, and children's parties.

A Digital Film Projector and sound equipment is available for conferences and film nights, capable of showing computer images, VHS videos and DVDs.

St Keverne Parish hall has full kitchen facilities manufactured in stainless steel

  • double cooker
  • microwave oven
  • large upright refridgerator
  • plate warmer
  • fast water boiler capable of supplying upto 200 hot drinks quickly.

Matching crockery and cutlery for 200 people is also available, and together with the Licensed Bar makes the Hall an ideal venue for a Party or Wedding Celebration.

In Theatrical mode the Hall can seat an audience of 280 (max).

The Reading room is ideal for smaller groups e.g Luncheon Club, Whist, or meetings.

Disabled facilities are provided in the hall, along with a loop system for those with hearing difficulties.

Over the years the Trustees have introduced productions of the Performing Classical Arts by hosting and presenting Opera Companies, Orchestras and many Theatrical Companies, which have included the international pianist Mr. Paul Burke and The Knee High Theatre.

St. Keverne Parish Hall has been described by many as one of the finest and most successful in the country.
