When actor and waiter Andrew (Zach Braff from TV's "Scrubs") returns home to attend his mother’s funeral, he seizes the opportunity to wean himself off the heavy anti-depressants which have been emotionally anaesthetising him since childhood. In his home town he encounters the old high school crowd, including a millionaire inventor and a gravedigger. By chance he also meets Sam (Natalie Portman) who propels him from his numbness.
